FAQs
Pluralism
We celebrate each individual's perspective and practice. Our programs invite discussion and participation, inspiring one another's personal journeys. Communal practice reflects our diversity, experiencing prayer and blessings through various modalities, utilizing song and movement.
Refund Policy
A registered participant may decide not to join our programming this year for non-extenuating circumstances. If this happens two months or more prior to the start of the session (i.e. before April 22nd), you will receive the deposit less a $90 fee. If this happens within two months of the program start date (i.e. Oct. 22nd), the deposit will not be refunded, and no additional cost will be incurred.
Safety
Every Lech-Lecha trek experience is guided by trained wilderness guides and safety is our highest priority. It is important to note that there is inherent risk in wilderness adventure in which participants are at times hours from the closest road resulting in slow response time from emergency crews and difficulty of evacuation. That being said, we are grateful that no Lech-Lecha participant has faced serious injury that has required evacuation or the use of our SAT device and we do our best to ensure that this remains true for the future.
Jewish Learning
Jewish learning will be woven into the adventure experience. We will lean on Jewish wisdom to frame the experiences and focus specifically on Shabbat as we prepare to eventually observe Shabbat in the wilderness on our end of year trek. We’ll use our time in the natural world to express gratitude, appreciation for the world and people around us, as well as ourselves. All of our learning and activities are also aimed at building group bonds and cultivating Jewish friendship.
TRANSPORTATION
Group Gatherings will meet in Newton, MA. Adventure activities will all take place within ~30 minutes of Newton and Brookline. Please see the program calendar for locations details of each activity. Participants will be asked to arrive at the trailhead for adventure activities and we are happy to help facilitate carpooling to adventure locations.
Are there Extra Costs for the Adventure Activities?
The cost of the program covers the cost of all activities and instruction. There are no other fees or costs besides the registration fee.
